Hello Sisters and Brothers of the Plainedge Federation of Teachers! I hope that you all enjoyed a very restful and enjoyable February recess in the company of many friends and family.

As we move into the spring season, it is a very exciting and important time for the PFT. Our two signature events, the Wizards Basketball Fundraiser and the We Make a Difference Awards Ceremony are set to occur on Wednesday, April 5th and Thursday, April 27th respectively. The Wizards basketball game raises thousands of dollars in college scholarships for deserving Plainedge HS seniors and is carried out in conjunction with our Plainedge PTA, while the We Make a Difference Awards Ceremony honors the children within our classrooms who make coming to school a great experience for students and teachers alike. The awards ceremony gives our members a rare opportunity to recognize the unsung heroes of our classrooms. These are the kids who might not be at the top of their class academically, but are always kind to others, helpful to both adults and their peers, and do their best to make the world around them a better place for all.  Both of these events are very important for our school children and do an excellent job of reinforcing the bond that exists between the PFT and the Plainedge community which we have built over the last 20 years since our days without a contract. I strongly encourage all members of the PFT to get involved in these two important events since our success over the last few years has been entirely due to the strong level of participation and the willingness of our members to volunteer their time.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Wizards Basketball Fundraiser or have any questions about the event, please contact either Erin Lehane or Joe Como at the HS.
